Working with antivirus protection in LogMeIn Resolve

Antivirus, or endpoint protection, protects your devices against malicious software. You can run scans remotely and monitor your devices.

Remember: Antivirus scans are available for users with Standard and Premium licenses only. Antivirus software can be updated on verified devices only.
Important: This feature does not support devices where the system time is out of sync by more than five minutes.
Note: This feature is available on Windows devices only. Devices running macOS or Windows ARM are not supported.

In LogMeIn Resolve, antivirus management makes sure your devices are not vulnerable to malicious attacks. It provides remote management of the antivirus software running on your devices: you can easily scan for threats and keep the antivirus application turned on and up-to-date.

LogMeIn Resolve can manage two different types of antivirus software: you can either use LogMeIn Resolve Endpoint Protection powered by Bitdefender or any other supported third-party antivirus software. Either way, when it comes to antivirus management, it is best to start by looking at the antivirus dashboard that gives you a quick overview of the antivirus status of your devices.

To see this dashboard in the Console, go to the Devices > Antivirus page. Devices are grouped into the following categories:

  • Protected: Devices that do not experience any antivirus-related issues
  • Threat found: Devices where the installed antivirus software detected a threat
  • Definition database out of date: Devices with an outdated virus definition database
  • Firewall disabled: Devices where the firewall is disabled
  • Real-time protection disabled: Devices where Windows real-time protection is disabled
  • Devices with Resolve Endpoint Protection: Devices where Endpoint Protection is installed as an antivirus solution
  • Devices with pre-installed antivirus software: Devices where a third-party application provides antivirus protection

Using the antivirus dashboard

Other than getting an instant view of potential issues, you can do the following:

  • Select on your devices, such as run a scan or enable the firewall.
  • Select Show devices to see a comprehensive list of device properties. You can also manage the antivirus status of your devices from this list.
Example:

As best practice, you should always keep your devices' antivirus software up-to-date. Make sure you run regular scans to see the antivirus health of your devices.

Why do I see unknown offline devices at random?

In some rare cases, when you run an antivirus scan, the AV software scans the LogMeIn Resolve installer and places it in a temporary sandbox. This starts another installation of LogMeIn Resolve. You can only remove the unknown device manually.
