Remote control FAQs in LogMeIn Central
Computer restarts when someone tries to use remote control
This problem is usually related to the video driver on the host computer. Please make sure your host computer's video drivers are updated to the latest version.
If you are certain your video drivers are updated, and you are still running into the issue, you can try disabling the Display Accelerator:
On the host computer, right-click the host systray icon.
- Select LogMeIn Control Panel
- Select the Options tab.
- Select Preferences.
- In the General Settings tab, uncheck the box next to Use Display Accelerator
- Select Apply.
Special characters are not sent on an iPhone
An iOS 11 feature called Smart Punctuation can block special character input.
- On your iOS device, tap Settings.
- Under General, select Keyboard.
- Disable Smart Punctuation.
Switch between multiple displays during remote control
There is a hotkey to switch between multiple monitors, but keep in mind that on the host, you first have to select or select a window with actual content to be able to switch between monitors. If you select the desktop on the host monitor or the header of the remote control window itself, then you won't be able to switch to another display.
To switch displays, hold down the left CTRL key + left Windows Key, and use the left and right arrow keys to cycle through the available displays. The "All Monitors" option is part of this cycle as well.
Disable the dimming feature for remote control
To disable the feature that dims an inactive Remote Control window, please follow these instructions when you are connected into the host computer. Please note, for the steps below you will have to open the Windows Registry. If you are not familiar with the Windows Registry, please contact Customer Support for assistance.
- Go to , type regedit and hit enter.

- If you do not see this value, right-click in the main pane of the window (on the right side of the screen), and choose New to create a new DWORD value. Name it TrackClientFocus and make sure its value is set to 0.
- You should restart LogMeIn Central before the changes will take effect. You can restart LogMeIn Central by choosing Computer Management and then .
About required Windows processes on the remote host
The following processes are created.
Normal running host processes
- lmi.exe
- lmisystray.exe
- ragui.exe
- lmitoolkit.exe
- LogMeInRC.exe
- ramaint.exe
LMIGuardian
Currently, all LogMeIn Pro and RemotelyAnywhere processes (lmi.exe, ra.exe, lmisystray.exe, ragui.exe, lmitoolkit.exe, ragui.exe) spawn an individual LMIGuardian process. The LMIGuardian catches all unhandled errors our processes might run into (aka crashes), and will report these errors with the user's approval.
Understanding the 'All Keyboard and mouse input is sent to the host' message
During remote control the message "All Keyboard and mouse input is sent to the host" is a notification that what you type locally (on the client device) will appear remotely (at the host computer) when your cursor is in the remote control window.
This is not a keylogger or an indicator of any malicious activity. Nothing that you type is being logged or recorded. This is the function of the host that allows what you type to be executed on the host computer in the remote control session.
You may disconnect this function by pressing Ctrl + Alt.
View a host computer's screen without taking control
The Monitor Host Screen feature allows a remote user to view the host computer's screen without actually taking control.
To use the Monitor Host Screen feature, connect to the host computer, select the Computer Management tab and select Monitor Host Screen. A message will be displayed on the screen of the host computer to notify any end-user that the screen is being monitored.
Remove the disconnect box that appears during desktop sharing
The disconnect box appears when you invite a guest into your computer and, for your security, it cannot be completely removed.
It can be hidden by selecting the minimize button near the top right of the box.
Hide the notification that appears when a remote control session starts
It is not possible to disable the notification box that appears when remote controlling a computer.
For security and privacy reasons, the box can be closed immediately after taking remote control, but not completely removed.
