Use sticky keys to execute keyboard shortcuts

Sticky keys allow you to press modifier keys (Ctrl, Shift, or Alt) one at a time, rather than all at once, to use keyboard shortcuts.

Tip: If you don't want to use sticky keys, consider using one of the following versions of the Console, where all keyboard shortcuts are interpreted correctly:
  • The LogMeIn Resolve Agent Desktop Console.
  • The browser version of the Console in full screen mode.
  1. Start a remote support session.
  2. Press Shift, Alt, or Ctrl on your keyboard.

Result: An icon for the key you pressed appears at the bottom left or right of your screen.

What to do next: Depending on the number of times you press a modifier key, you have the following experience during a remote support session:
Press once
: The key icon displays a black background, meaning the modifier will apply only to the next key you press.

For example, press Shift once, then type “user” to get “User”.

Press twice
: The key icon is shown with a black background and a purple dot in the top-left corner, meaning the modifier remains active for all subsequent keys (sticky mode).

For example, press Shift twice, then type “user” to get “USER”.

Not pressed or pressed three times
: The key icon displays a gray background, indicating the modifier is not active and will not apply to the next key you press.

You can combine multiple modifier keys, regardless of their sticky status. To issue key combinations specific to operating systems, such as Ctrl-Alt-Del, you can use the toolbar of the remote support session. See Restart the LogMeIn Resolve application as a System Service.

In windowed mode of the browser version of the Console, the Windows and Command keys are mapped to the right Control and right Command keys respectively. To use shortcuts involving the Windows or Command keys, do the following:

  • On Windows, use the right Control key with a modifier key on the right.
  • On Mac, use the right Command key with a modifier key on the right.
