OneUI 7: Critical Changes to Samsung Remote Support

You can learn from this article about important changes to device management and remote control capabilities in Samsung OneUI 7.

Overview

Samsung initiated the OneUI 7 rollout on April 7, 2025, starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Z Flip6, and Z Fold6 devices. Additional Samsung device models received the update throughout April. This update has introduced significant changes to how remote control functionality operates on Samsung devices.

Key Changes

With OneUI 7, Samsung has implemented restrictions on the Knox Remote Control API. Access is now limited exclusively to managed devices, which includes devices enrolled in enterprise mobile management (EMM) or mobile device management (MDM) solutions. Personal and consumer devices will no longer have direct access to this API, requiring alternative methods for remote support.

What shall I do with my managed devices?

Organizations with managed Samsung devices have two primary options for maintaining unattended support capabilities:

Configure the Knox Service Plugin for LogMeIn Resolve
This maintains existing functionality and provides a seamless experience for both current and new devices. Create a configuration for the Knox Service Plugin as described in section Activate and configure the Knox Service Plugin for LogMeIn Resolve. This configuration should ideally be completed before updating to OneUI 7.
Enable Accessibility Service for LogMeIn Resolve
Alternatively, managed devices can utilize the Accessibility Service-based support system, following the same procedure as non-managed devices. This option requires additional setup steps but provides consistent functionality across all device types. The short video at the end of the next section shows you how to enable the Accessibility Service.

What shall I do with my non-managed devices?

For non-managed devices, the Accessibility Service becomes the primary method for enabling remote support. New devices added after the OneUI 7 update will require Accessibility Service enablement during their initial deployment phase. This represents a change from the previous Knox license setup process.

Enable Accessibility Service for LogMeIn Resolve
Existing devices transitioning to OneUI 7 require special attention. If the Accessibility Service is not enabled prior to the update, you will need to manually enable this service after the update is complete. To ensure continuous support capabilities, it is crucial to prepare devices before the OneUI 7 update by enabling the Accessibility Service:

Create the following configuration for the Knox Service Plugin:

Note: Depending on the type of device enrollment, you may need to configure the Work profile policies (Profile Owner) settings instead of Device-wide policies (Selectively applicable to Fully Manage Device (DO) or Work Profile-on company owned devices (WP-C) mode as noted) settings with the same configuration.
Note: If you don't find the Add applications for accessing the Knox SDK setting in the configuration, update the Knox Service Plugin app in you MDM/EMM console.

Best Practices

To ensure a smooth transition to OneUI 7, organizations should implement these changes before the update rollout reaches their devices. This proactive approach helps maintain uninterrupted remote support capabilities and minimizes potential disruptions to service.

Important: For managed devices, configure the Knox Service Plugin before updating to OneUI 7 to maintain uninterrupted remote support functionality.
