Manage files on a device

The File Manager lets you perform file and folder operations on devices without requiring remote control. It supports accessing both regular and system files on local devices.

Note: File manager is available for trial and paid plans as well.
Note: File Manager works in the Desktop Console and Chromium based browsers only.

Perform file and folder operations on a device

You can copy, rename, and delete files and folders on an unattended device. You can now access system folders like Documents, Desktop, and the root folder of your hard drives on your local device.
  1. In the file manager, open the folder on your local computer that you want to manage in LogMeIn Resolve.
  2. Select a file either on the managed device or on the local computer.
    To select multiple files, press and hold the SHIFT or CTRL key on your keyboard and click the files that you want to select.
    Note: You can also drag-and-drop files to the remote device from external sources, such as Windows File Explorer.
  3. Choose what to do:

    File operations available on the remote (managed) device
    • Copy - Copies the selected file to the other device. You can also drag-and-drop selected files to copy between the remote device and the local computer. Alternatively, you can also press F4 on your keyboard.
    • Properties - Displays the file or folder properties. See View file properties in the File Manager
    • Rename - Renames the selected file or folder on the remote device. This option is not available on your Local Computer pane.
    • Delete - Removes the selected file or folder. You can also press DEL on your keyboard to delete selected files.
    • Download - Downloads the selected file from the remote device to the default folder on your local computer. This folder is defined in your browser's settings. See Download files from a remote device
    Tip: File and folder operations do not have any file size limitations. However, you should consider that moving or copying larger files take more time to complete.
    Note: You cannot delete read-only and encrypted files.

Keyboard shortcuts

You have the following keyboard shortcuts that you can use on either file manager panel:
  • F3 - Refreshes the list of files and folders. This is useful when you copy or delete a large number of files and you want to see which files have already been copied or deleted.
  • F4 - Copies selected files between the local computer and the remote device.
  • F5 - Creates a new folder on the panel where at least one file or folder is selected.
  • DEL - Deletes the selected files and folders.

Overcome an Access denied message on a Mac

When you get this error message on a Mac, you must grant Full Disk Access to LogMeIn Resolve before you can manage files on your device. Here's how:

  1. Select a folder on a remote Mac device.

    The Access denied message is displayed.

  2. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences.
  3. Select Security & Privacy.
  4. On the Privacy tab, scroll down to Full Disk Access.
  5. Make sure you can make changes to privacy settings. You may have to click the lock at the bottom of the window to enable making changes.
  6. Select the GoToResolve app.
  7. Select Quit & Reopen.
  8. Go back to LogMeIn Resolve and select Retry on the error message.
