Create self-healing alerts

Self-healing alerts automatically trigger remote execution steps that run on your devices. With these automated steps, LogMeIn Resolve can try to fix issues without agent interaction. You can turn an alert into a self-healing one during alert policy creation.

Important: You must have a remote execution template saved to create self-healing alerts. See Save steps as a template in Remote Execution.
  1. In the Console, create an alert policy or edit an existing one. See Set up alerts in LogMeIn Resolve
  2. On the New alert policy page, drag and drop the alert type that you want to set up as a self-healing alert. You can choose the following:
    • CPU usage
    • Memory usage
    • Free disk space
    • Custom script monitoring
    • Connection status (only when a device comes online)
    • Windows event log
    • BitLocker status
  3. Regardless of which alert type you use, on the Triggered action tab on the right, choose the remote execution template that you want to run to resolve the issue.
    Note: To choose a different template, simply select another one on the right.
  4. Select Next step.
  5. Select the devices or device groups where you want to add alerts.
    Important: You can only see the device groups that you have access to.
  6. Select Next step.
  7. Add a name and description to your alert policy. In the Email addresses field, add the recipients who will be notified when alert notifications are sent.
  8. Select Activate policy and enter your zero trust signature key for confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I combine self-healing and standard alerts in an alert policy?
Yes.
Remember: The only difference between the two alert types is that self-healing alerts also have triggered actions defined.
Does a self-healing alert run a template every time the alert is triggered?
No. For example, if an alert is triggered every five minutes, then the relevant remote execution steps run only the first time the alert is triggered.
Remember: A self-healing alert aims to resolve the issue that triggered the alert. Ideally, you only get an alert that 'resolves itself' once. Therefore, even if the triggered action does not solve the issue, the defined remote execution steps will not run again.
Where do I see triggered actions in the Console?
There are two ways to view triggered actions:
  • In the Devices > Remote execution menu, go to the Triggered jobs tab. Select the name of a job to see its details.
  • Select an existing self-healing alert and on the Configure alerts page, select Open triggered job to see triggered remote execution jobs.
