Import managed devices

You can import (or sync) your managed devices listed under Devices to your Inventory.

  1. In the Console, go to the Inventory page.
Note: If you have multiple accounts, select your organization in the top-left corner next to the LogMeIn Resolve logo.
  2. Select the Sync managed devices option at the top of the page.
Note: You will see a notification if new devices were added to the device list. You can update your sync settings right from the notification or by selecting the purple gear icon on the right, and then selecting Sync settings.
Remember: When you enroll a device in LogMeIn Resolve and perform an immediate inventory sync, some software installations may not be detected right away and the Managed software tab of the device might initially appear empty. Software inventory information will be automatically updated and populated with the next device sync.

Result: Your managed LogMeIn Resolve devices are imported to your inventory including all the information that are relevant for asset management. The imported devices are displayed on the top of the inventory list when the Added date column is sorted A-Z (default). Imported managed devices will be automatically tracked as managed devices and their Source column will display Imported from Resolve on date.

  3. Change the type of the item from Uncategorized to the respective category by selecting the item in the list.
Note: You can navigate to device details by selecting the purple link icon. Existing asset items with the same serial number won’t be overwritten but associated information will be updated or added where missing (e.g. last logged in user, IP address). You can trigger sync manually the same way you import items.
Important: You can add a maximum of 50,000 items to your account.

Remove duplicate hardware assets

After syncing managed devices, assets with the same serial number may appear duplicated in the inventory list. Here's how to remove them.
  1. After syncing devices, select Show duplicates in the notification.
You can also access this list by selecting the purple gear icon on the right, and then selecting List of duplicates.
  2. Find the device that you want to remove by its serial number.
Under each duplicate item, you find the newly synced device in bold. Once an action is performed on the device, it is marked as normal in the list.
Tip: A duplicate group may also include an existing asset and multiple managed devices. This happens when there are existing duplicates in the device list that are re-synced.

  3. Depending on how you want to handle duplicate items, you have the following options on the right:
    • Manage labels: Label your devices to mark them as items that need an agent's attention. You can assign existing labels or create new ones for your inventory.
    • Merge items: Merge a newly synced device with an existing asset. Merge will only update device-related information of the existing device, such as the IP address, device group, and tenant information, but not its asset-related details, such as its purchase date. Consider the following when you merge items:
      • When you merge a managed device with an existing asset that does not have a device link, only one asset will remain in the inventory. The remaining asset will include the original asset details and the managed device. This operation also removes both items from the duplicate list.
      • You cannot merge a newly synced device with an existing asset that already has a device link.
      • The list of duplicates may contain a device duplicate for an asset that already has a device link. This happens when an existing device linked to an asset has the same serial number as a newly imported device. To make sure that further device syncs do not create unnecessary duplicates, either remove or change the serial number of one of the devices.
      • You can merge a managed asset – with a linked device – and an unmanaged one. In this case, the unmanaged asset provides asset details, such as location and assignment status, while device data will be read from the managed asset.
    • Remove items: Delete the selected devices from your hardware asset list, but not from LogMeIn Resolve.
