Create a policy for LogMeIn Resolve Endpoint Protection

You can create a policy containing settings for LogMeIn Resolve Endpoint Protection powered by Bitdefender that you can apply to multiple devices.

Note: You must have a paid subscription and an Endpoint Protection add-on to use this feature.

Endpoint Protection offers you the following features:

  • Run quick and full scans
  • Define scan profile (Permissive, Normal, Aggressive)
  • Define USB scan policy (Always, Ask, Never, Block Device)
  • Exclude files and process from scans
  • Block port scans
  • Disable Internet Connection Sharing
  • Enable anti-phishing
  • Enable traffic scan
  • Quarantine threats

To set up a new policy, do the following:

  1. In the Console, go to the Devices > Antivirus page.
  2. Select Manage Endpoint Protection policy in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Add new policy at the top to create one.
    To edit an existing policy, hover over a policy and open the context menu on the right. Then select Edit policy.
  4. Select the Resolve Endpoint Protection policy type and then select Next.
  5. Under Protection strategy, choose from the following:
    Option Description
    Allowing Configures the scan settings for maximum protection against any type of malware.
    Normal Provides optimum balance between security and performance.
    Strict Provides basic security but maximum performance.
  6. Under Scans, choose from the following and set the scan schedule:
    Option Description
    Quick scan Scans major files and folders on the devices except hidden files and system files.
    Full scan Scans all files on your devices.
  7. Under USB device scans, select the following:
    Option Description
    Always scan Automatically scans USB devices.
    Ask every time Asks the user whether or not to scan USB devices.
    Disabled Does not scan USB devices.
    Block device Prevents USB devices from being used.
  8. Under Exclusion from scans, add any files, folders, or processes you do not want scanned.
  9. Under Content Control, you can set the following:
    Options Description
    Anti-phishing Block known phishing and fraudulent websites when browsing.
    Web traffic scan Scan HTTP, POP3 and SMTP traffic for viruses.
    Exclusions from web traffic scans Click Add exclusion to enter a URL to exclude from Real-time protection, Full scan, Quick scan, or all Custom scan started locally.
  10. Enable Firewall and you can enable the following:
    Options Description
    Allow internet connection sharing Enable the Windows service that allows a device to share its Internet connection with other devices.
    Block port scan attacks Detect and block attempts to exploit open ports.
    Allow network printing Allow using remote printers that are available on private networks.
    Note:
    • You can set the network profile type in your operating system: go to Settings > Network & Internet and select the Properties tab at the top. Select Private for network type.
  11. Under Secure with password, you can set the following:
    Option Description
    Auto-generated password Select Generate new password to generate a password, which end-users can use to uninstall LogMeIn Resolve Endpoint Protection from their devices.
    Important: Save this password securely before activating the policy, as it cannot be retrieved later.
  12. Under Cleaning behaviour, you can set the following:
    Options Description
    Don't clean threats automatically, only quarantine them Isolate threats instead of deleting them immediately. By selecting this option, you can filter false positives and have better control over what files to delete.
  13. Select Next.
  14. Select devices or device groups where you want to apply the policy.
    Use the tabs above the device list to switch between Individual devices and Device groups.
    Tip: You can filter for individual devices by their groups and online status. Select Add filter above the list of devices to open the filters panel on the right.
  15. Select Next.
    If you select a device that already has a policy applied, you have to confirm that you want to reassign the device to the new policy.
  16. On the Review and activate page, name your policy and add an appropriate description.
  17. Select Activate policy and confirm your zero trust signature key.

    Result: It may take minutes for the new policy to activate on online devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I disable an active policy?
Yes. On the Endpoint protection policies page, hover over the policy you want to change and select the context menu on the right. Then select what you want to do with the policy:
  • Deactivate - Turn off an active policy.
  • Delete - Delete the selected policy.
  • Activate - Turn on a deactivated policy.

Can I apply a policy to offline devices?
Yes. As soon as a device goes online, the Endpoint protection policy will be automatically applied.
Can I apply policies to a Mac?
No. This feature is available on Windows devices only.
Can I apply policies to a Windows server?

Can I apply multiple Endpoint protection policies to a device?
No. Only one policy can be applied to a device.
Where can I see which policy is applied to a device?
You can see the list of devices in the policy settings. To do so, edit a policy and go to the Select devices page.
