Enabling a screen lock passcode policy for a number of devices

From this article, you can find instructions for specifying a passcode policy, applying the passcode policy to any number of devices, and how to follow through on policy compliance with reports.

If you are interested in configuring a passcode for Android work profile, please see the instructions from here.

Preparations

To enable a screen lock passcode policy with LogMeIn Resolve MDM:

  • Go to your LogMeIn Resolve MDM site.
  • Make sure you have administrator access to your LogMeIn Resolve MDM site.
  • Some devices will already need to be enrolled in LogMeIn Resolve MDM ( instructions for device enrollment).

Defining the policy

In LogMeIn Resolve MDM, go to Management > Configuration profiles and open the configuration wizard by clicking the button Add.

Selecting the platform for the profile.
  • Choose the device platform for which the configuration profile will be created.
  • Choose the type of configuration profile. In this case, choose Passcode.
  • Next, you can configure the passcode settings and requirements.

Filling in the passcode requirements.

If you want to create a similar passcode configuration profile for other device platforms, simply repeat the above steps, but choose another device platform when starting to create the profile.

Deploying the policy

The easiest way to apply a passcode policy to devices is to do it through the Devices view (see screenshot below).

First, filter and sort the view according to your preferences, and then use the checkboxes in the leftmost column to choose the devices that should be affected. Open the configuration wizard by clicking Deploy > Deploy configuration profile .

Follow the instructions of the wizard: choose the passcode policy that you created earlier, go ahead to confirm the deployment, and start the distribution.

Deploying the configuration profile - step 1 out of 3. Adhere to compliance

You can track the progress of the policy deployment from Management > Action log (see screenshot below). By filtering with Model and Action type columns, you can quickly spot if the policy deployment has failed for any of the devices.

For general reporting purposes, you can utilize the Dashboard view which shows you a variety of charts and widgets that visualize the status of your managed mobile devices. Here you can get an overall picture of whether your devices on any of the platforms have any passcode set. If you click on the red section of the donut chart, you will see a list of the devices that still do not have a passcode set.
