Add web apps to the home screen using the Home screen & kiosk mode configuration profile
You can add web applications to the home screen for easy access to specific websites in all configuration types.
Before you begin: In the case of the Kiosk mode with 1 app and Kiosk mode with multiple apps configuration types, a browser needs to be deployed to the device and set as the default browser after deployment.
Important: It is recommended to deploy the browser application to the device before deploying the Home screen & kiosk mode configuration profile. Otherwise, if the Settings application is not added to the home screen as a home app or hidden app, it becomes unavailable in all configuration types. For detailed instructions on deploying applications to Android devices, see Application management and deployment for Android.
Add the browser to the Home screen & kiosk mode configuration profile as follows:
- For the Kiosk mode with 1 app configuration type, add the browser as a hidden app.
- For the Kiosk mode with multiple apps configuration type, add the browser as a home app or hidden app.
To add certain websites as applications to the home screen for the Home screen & kiosk mode configuration profile, you first need to create a web app in
LogMeIn Resolve MDM.
Important: Due to the nature of the Managed Google Play service, some devices might run into issues using web apps. It is strongly recommended to test their behavior on each device to ensure the web apps behave as expected.
- Create a web app in LogMeIn Resolve MDM and deploy it to the managed Android devices.
- Navigate to and open your web app's page.
- Copy the web app's Identifier.
- Start creating a Home screen & kiosk mode configuration profile with a Home screen only, Kiosk mode with 1 app, or Kiosk mode with multiple apps configuration type.
- On the Home screen settings tab, paste the web app's Identifier into the Application or Home apps text box, then select Add.
- Finish setting up the configuration profile, then deploy it to the managed Android devices.
