Set Up Two-Step verification

Your admin may require multifactor authentication (MFA), also known as “two-step verification”, for your account. If you set up two-step verification in the past and are prompted to set it up again, your admin may have reset it for the account.

The steps vary if you have set up two-step verification before.
  • This is my first time setting up two-step verification
  • I previously set up two-step verification

This is my first time setting up two-step verification

  1. Log in at https://secure.logmeinrescue.com/account/login.
  2. Select Set up two-step verification. The Protect Your Account page is displayed.
  3. Select Set up mobile app.
  4. On your mobile device, launch your preferred authenticator app and follow the on-screen instructions to pair your account.
  5. Return to your browser and select Set up text message as the backup method when your primary method is unavailable.
  6. Enter the phone number to which login codes should be sent and select Next.
  7. Check your mobile device for a text from GoTo. Enter the 6-digit code to verify your phone number then select Finish text setup.
  8. Select Activate.

Results: The next time you log in, you’ll be prompted to enter the security code in your authenticator app.

I previously set up two-step verification

Before you begin:

To set up 2FA as described below, you must first enable 2FA in the Admin Center by following the instructions provided in the Enforce Two-Step verification article. Once you have enabled 2FA, the next time a user logs in, they can follow these steps:

  1. Log in at https://secure.logmeinrescue.com/account/login.
  2. Select Set up two-step verification. The Protect Your Account page is displayed.
  3. Under MFA Authenticator, select Edit.
  4. Select Start pairing again.
  5. On your mobile device, launch your preferred authenticator app and follow the on-screen instructions to pair your account.
  6. Return to your browser and verify the backup method. If you need to make changes, select Edit.
  7. Select Activate > Continue.

Results: The next time you log in, you’ll be prompted to enter the security code displayed in your preferred authenticator app.
