How can I remote control a device with vPro?

Before you begin:
The following requirements must be met to use the vPro hardware-based KVM feature:
  • The technician must run Rescue Technician Console version 7.51.3808 or later.
  • The agent must login to the Technician Console with a Rescue user that has the Intel vPro and Remote Control (KVM) permissions enabled in the Rescue Admin Center for their technician group.
  • The Intel-vPro device must support full Intel AMT manageability (Intel vPro Standard Manageability does not support out-of-band KVM).
  • The Intel-vPro device must be provisioned with an Intel EMA server v. 1.12.1.0 or later.
  • The Intel EMA endpoint group that the device is provisioned with needs to have the Remote KVM access right enabled in its configuration.
  • The Intel AMT profile assigned to the Intel EMA endpoint group of the device must have the KVM feature enabled in its Management Interfaces settings.
  • The Intel EMA user connecting to the device must belong to an EMA user group that has the Hardware Manageability access right enabled.
  • The device must be able to reach the EMA server, preferably via CIRA.
  1. Select the Intel vPro device you want to access, and click Connect. For more information on how you can select an Intel vPro device, see How can I browse Intel EMA servers for available devices?

Result: A new Intel vPro session is launched.

  2. Select the Remote control tab.
  3. Select Launch Remote Control Session to start a new KVM (Keyboard-video-mouse) session.
  4. Enter the consent code displayed on the remote device if prompted:

Result: Upon successful verification, the KVM view should show the screen of the remote device.

What can I do in a KVM session?

  • Fullscreen: With this icon, you can toggle the KVM view to fullscreen mode.
  • Fixed scaling: You can precisely adjust the scaling of the remote screen by incrementing or decrementing the displayed value.
  • Scaling: You can select one of the three preset scaling options from the dropdown:
    • Actual size: the remote screen gets displayed at the original resolution without scaling, which may require scrolling.
    • Fit to Window: the remote screen size gets down-scaled to fit the KVM view (if larger than the local KVM screen estate).
    • Stretch to Window: the remote screen size gets up or down-scaled to fit the local KVM view.
  • Key Combination: You can select a key combination from the dropdown to send to the remote device.
  • Three blue squares: You can send the Ctrl+Alt+Delete key combination to the remote device.
  • End: You can end the KVM session.
