Remote control a Mac computer

Learn from this article how to grant the necessary permissions to use the full feature set of the LogMeIn Rescue Technician Console Desktop app and Applet for Mac in different OS versions.

Important: LogMeIn Rescue remote sessions with Mac OS.12 and earlier versions are not supported.
Note: You can chat with your customer before they grant additional permissions.

macOS Ventura (13) and macOS Sonoma (14)

Before you begin: Granting the necessary permissions for using the full feature set of the LogMeIn Rescue Technician Console Desktop app and Applet for Mac has been made a lot easier on these operating systems. To enable remote control, make sure you have set up the following access types for LogMeIn Rescue.
  1. In the top-left corner of the desktop, click the Apple icon.
  2. Select System Settings.
  3. Click Privacy & Security in the sidebar.
    Note: You may need to scroll down.
    • Click Microphone: Turn access to the microphone on for LogMeIn Rescue.
    • Click Camera: Turn access to the camera on for LogMeIn Rescue.
    • Click Input Monitoring: Turn access to input monitoring on for LogMeIn Rescue.
    • Click Files and Folders: Turn access to files and folders on for LogMeIn Rescue.

macOS Mojave (10.14), macOS Catalina (10.15), macOS Big Sur (11.0) and macOS Monterey (12)

Before you begin: These operating systems had added security features that required additional permissions for using the full feature set of the LogMeIn Rescue Technician Console Desktop app and Applet for Mac. In order to enable remote control a customer's Mac running these legacy macOS systems, customers had to set the following preferences.
  1. In the top-left corner of the desktop, click the Apple icon.
  2. Select System Preferences.
  3. Click Security & Privacy.
  4. Click the Privacy tab.
    Note: If the lock at the bottom left of the pane was locked, click the Unlock option and enter your credentials.
  5. Make the following changes:
    1. In the left side bar, click Accessibility, and make sure the LogMeIn-Rescue.app box is checked:
      Note: If you can't see the LogMeIn-Rescue.app item in the list, click the + sign and navigate to the folder where you installed the application.
    2. In the left side bar, click Input Monitoring, and make sure the LogMeIn-Rescue.app box is checked:
    3. In the left side bar, click Screen Recording, and make sure the LogMeInRemoteSupport box is checked:
    4. Note: You may not see all of the boxes listed. If you see none of the boxes listed, end the LogMeIn Rescue session and try connecting again.
      Note: Customers on Catalina 10.15.2 need to also perform the following additional setting:System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access > LogMeIn-Rescue.app
    5. Click the Lock icon to prevent any further changes. Your settings are saved automatically.
What to do next: If no permissions have been granted for Rescue before, or the customer is running the Mac Applet, they can alternatively grant permissions by accepting the pop-up window of the screen recording request and clicking the items in the Permissions tab.
