Troubleshooting a '403 Forbidden' error

There are a few different possible solutions to a 403 error that are known.

There are 2 Internet connections running simultaneously
(a laptop with an active wireless connection and an active wired connection). To resolve this:
  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections.
  2. Right-click the connection you would like to disable and select Disable.
  3. You will need to reboot the computer for the change to take effect.
The HOSTS file on the host computer is incorrect
Make sure that 127.0.0.1 is part of the HOSTS file. To do this:
  1. Go to Start > Run and type "C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts" without the quotes.
  2. Open the hosts file with notepad.
  3. You will see a line towards the bottom of file that reads: "127.0.0.1 localhost".
  4. If this line does not exist, add the line to the file and save the document
It could be caused by the Denial of Service filter on the host computer
To check this:
  1. Open the Toolkit on the host computer.
  2. Go to the Options > Preferences > Security tab.
  3. Select the Show Details button under the Denial of Service Attack Blocker.
  4. Uncheck the box next to Active and select OK and close the toolkit.
Install the software to a different directory other than C:\Program Files\LogMeIn
If you are doing this in the MSI installer just change the directory to anything else during the installation process. If you are doing this in a command line install the install line should look like logmein install -path "C:\logmein"
