Changing the signature of the LogMeIn host and client application certificates

As of October 2024, the LogMeIn Pro host application and the LogMeIn Client app will be signed by GoTo, Inc. LogMeIn (the company) has been renamed GoTo as early as February 2022 and this change makes sure that the new name is reflected in the digital signature of our applications as well.

Tip: If you have product-related questions, please search this support site for an answer. This article only covers the change in the application certificate signature.

Is there any action I should take?

No. The new GoTo-signed host and client applications do not bring any change to you. Neither your subscription nor the available features will be different. This is only a technical modification that happens in the background but does not impact your day-to-day work with LogMeIn Pro and LogMeIn Central.

Where do I see the new digital signature?

On Windows computers, do the following:

  1. Open the Windows menu and search for Task Manager.
  2. Open Task Manager and search for the Process called LogMeIn.
Note: You can also check the digital signature of the LogMeIn Control Panel and LMIGuardianSvc processes. LogMeIn.exe is the only file where you will not see a change in the certificate signature.
  3. Right-click the process and select Properties.
  4. You can see the new signature on the Digital Signatures tab.
For more information on the certificate, select Details and then View Certificate.

On a Mac, do the following:

  1. Open the Finder window and navigate to the Application folder on the left.
  2. Make sure you see the path bar at the bottom of the Finder window.

If not, select the View > Show Path Bar menu.

  3. Control-click the folder in the path bar, then do one of the following:
    • Open a new window: Select Open in Terminal.
    • Open a new tab: Select Services > New Terminal Tab at Folder.
  4. Run the following command:
    codesign -dvvv "LogMeIn Client.app"

You can see the new signature in the Authority=Developer ID Application line.
